First celebrated in 2007, Qatar National Day marks the historic day in 1878 when Sheikh Jassem bin Mohammed bin Thani, the founder of Qatar, rose to power and led the country into statehood and unity. Every year, the 18th of December celebrates the ideals and vision on which Qatar was founded, which are reflected in the remarkable development that has been achieved in all sectors throughout the country.
